The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vashuta throws a sloppy body shot

and Mercier decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Vashuta's guard.
Vashuta wants to stand but Mercier is controlling the position.
Mercier wants to stand and escape but instead Vashuta has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Mercier wants to stand but Vashuta is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Vashuta gets to his feet - Mercier follows without any prompting.

Vashuta misses with a body punch

and Mercier counters with a takedown into side control.
Mercier tries to get to his feet but Vashuta is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Mercier in his guard.
Mercier trying to stand up but can't free himself from Vashuta's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dexter Mercier dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Vashuta misses with a body shot

and Mercier counters with a single leg into guard. Vashuta didn't expect that.
Mercier prevents Vashuta from getting back to his feet.
Mercier wants to stand but Vashuta has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Vashuta is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mercier is controlling him.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Mercier wants to stand but Vashuta is controlling his posture from full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mercier stops Vashuta from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dexter Mercier showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Vashuta drops his hands momentarily and Mercier takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Vashuta takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Vashuta misses with a hook to the body

and Mercier counters with a nice right hand that sends Vashuta toppling to the canvas! Vashuta scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Mercier finish him?!

and Mercier scores with a counter punch that sends Vashuta to the canvas! Mercier smells blood - he's punishing Vashuta with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Vashuta has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
