The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ryan blocks a head kick by Silva.
Silva closes the distance looking to clinch
and Ryan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Ryan avoids the head kick by Silva.
Silva throws a head kick that misses.
Silva pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ryan back to the cage. Silva follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Ryan avoids the head kick by Silva.
Ryan gets the takedown into side control.
Silva wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryan tries for a kimura but Silva is defending well.

Ryan is working to tighten is grip on Silva's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Silva has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ryan is really squeezing tight and eventually Silva passes out! Ryan breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
