Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcus Grant has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hunter Thompson!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Thompson scores with a jab to the jaw.
A chopping leg kick lands by Grant.
Grant connects with a good right hand that stumbles Thompson. Thompson circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Thompson lands a high kick!
Grant throws a lazy uppercut

and Thompson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Grant looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thompson is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Thompson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Grant looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Grant looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Grant!
Thompson is not content to let Grant control the position.
Thompson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Grant wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Grant misses with the ground and pound.
Grant is looking to take a break and control but Thompson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Grant is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Thompson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
An elbow from Grant crashes against the mat.
Thompson tries to bench press Grant off him but Grant keeps the position.
The strikes coming from Grant are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Grant wants to control but Thompson is keeping him busy.
Grant throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Thompson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Grant is controlling him well.
Thompson is letting Grant control him for a moment.
Grant trying to control the action but Thompson is working from the bottom.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Thompson is not content to let Grant control the position.
Grant throws a strike aimed at the side of Thompson's head but Thompson avoids it well.

Thompson throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Grant misses with a leg kick.
Grant just misses with a punch to the body.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Grant throws an overhand right that lands on Thompson's shoulder, as Thompson tries to avoid the shot.
Thompson shoots in and drives through. Grant sprawls well.
Marcus Grant is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Grant throws a nice head kick!
Grant throws an off balance right hand

and Thompson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Grant's guard.

Thompson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Grant is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Thompson, into his guard.
Thompson is wriggling around but Grant manages to pass to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Thompson dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Grant thows a body shot but no joy.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Thompson shoots for a takedown but Grant saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Thompson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Grant circles away.
Grant avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grant throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Thompson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Thompson.
Grant is trying to control the position but Thompson postures up.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Grant in particular looking to stall.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Thompson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Grant.
Thompson wants to get back to his feet.

Thompson pushes Grant off and gets back to his feet.
Thompson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Grant counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Marcus Grant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hunter Thompson.
Thompson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Grant staying out of range there.

Thompson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Grant swings widly with a right hand
and Thompson counters with a head kick. That will keep Grant thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Grant throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thompson.
Grant tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thompson was well out of range. Poor timing from Grant.
Thompson wants to clinch
and Grant counters with a left to the body.
Marcus Grant is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Grant moves out of range of the leg kick from Thompson.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Thompson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Grant swivels and escapes.
Thompson closes the distance looking to clinch
and Grant counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Grant throws a left and a right that both miss
and Thompson counters with a big head kick but Grant shrugs it off.
Grant stuffs the takedown.
Grant misses with a lunging right hand
and Thompson counters with an inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Thompson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Thompson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A punch combination from Grant misses.
Grant delivers a nice body kick.

and Grant counters with a series of strikes. Thompson will be more careful next time no doubt.

Grant throws a leg kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Thompson does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Grant misses with an uppercut

and Thompson counters with a single leg into guard. Grant didn't expect that.
Grant is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Grant keeping moving, preventing Thompson from controlling successfully.

Grant is pulling down on Thompson's head to control his posture.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Thompson pushes down on Grant's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Grant tries to get to full guard but Thompson has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thompson wants to free his trapped foot but Grant is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Grant is looking to improve his position.
Hunter Thompson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Thompson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Grant sees it coming and defends easily.
Marcus Grant has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Thompson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Grant doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Thompson.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Thompson is working for a submission of some sort.
Hunter Thompson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Thompson tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Grant.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hunter Thompson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Thompson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
