Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russ Lehr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralph Jakort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ralph Jakort will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Russ Lehr!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ralph Jakort!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lehr scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jakort is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Lehr's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Jakort gets full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Jakort is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lehr is aware though and is defending well.
Lehr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jakort swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jakort is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Lehr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jakort on the ground.
Lehr slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lehr wants to pass the guard but Jakort is keeping the position.
Lehr wants to control from the top but Jakort keeps moving.

Jakort has his foot on Lehr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lehr works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Lehr got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jakort has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lehr has managed to get both his arms back between Jakort's legs - danger averted.
Lehr wants to control from the top but Jakort keeps moving.
Lehr is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We're going to have a standup here because Russ Lehr wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Jakort doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lehr counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Jakort wants to get back to his feet.

Lehr throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Lehr wants to pass the guard but Jakort is defending well.
Lehr is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Jakort is looking for a sweep. Lehr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lehr seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Lehr trying to pass the guard but Jakort defending well.

Lehr is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jakort doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lehr.

Lehr wants to control but Jakort is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lehr seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Lehr is taking a breather. Jakort says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lehr seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jakort for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Lehr takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lehr tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jakort knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Lehr seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jakort does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Jakort is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lehr pulls his head out easily.

Jakort moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Lehr has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jakort had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lehr defends it easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lehr's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Russ Lehr will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Lehr seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Lehr wants to sweep here but Jakort controlling him for the moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Lehr has his hands on Jakort's head, controlling the position.
Lehr wants to control the position but Jakort says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Lehr wants to control the action here but instead Jakort manages to pass to full mount!

Jakort has isolated one of Lehr's arms. Lehr looking to fight him off but Jakort twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
