PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Drederick Tatum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis Tsushima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tsushima has chosen Eminem - Till I Collapse as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Drederick Tatum has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Drederick Tatum seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Drederick Tatum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lewis Tsushima!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tatum tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tsushima paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Tatum misses with a few strikes there.
An inside leg kick lands from Tatum.
Tatum looks to land a right hand but Tsushima moved out of range.

Tsushima scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tatum wants to get back to full guard.
Tatum is working hard here to advance position.
Tsushima is trying to control the action in half guard but Tatum is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Drederick Tatum is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Donk. Tsushima catches Tatum right on the button with a cross.
Tsushima moves out of range of the strikes.
Tatum on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

and Tsushima counters with an inside leg kick.
Tatum is breathing heavily.
Tatum looks to land a right hand but Tsushima moved out of range.
Tatum is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Tatum throws a head kick that misses.
Drederick Tatum seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tatum takes a jab right on the kisser.
Tatum throws an overhand right that lands on Tsushima's shoulder, as Tsushima tries to avoid the shot.
Tsushima ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

enabling Tsushima to counter with a crisp jab.

Tatum takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Tsushima moves into the clinch.
Tsushima is pushing Tatum up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Tatum misses with a body punch.
A short body shot lands from Tsushima as the two fighters clinch.
Tsushima manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Tsushima is looking to control Tatum's arms but Tatum gets an underhook and turns him. Now Tsushima has his back to the cage.
Tatum struggles to land a body shot inside as Tsushima controls his hands.
Tsushima blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Tsushima lands a body punch.
Tatum swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Tsushima wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tatum keeps working.
Tsushima is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Tsushima wants to free his trapped foot but Tatum is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Tatum is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Tsushima works his foot free and advances to mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tatum is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lewis Tsushima dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Tatum with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Tsushima to score with a decent uppercut.
Tatum takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Tsushima lands a nice shot that snaps Tatum's head back.
Tatum throws a predictable looking body shot
and Tsushima counters with a solid body kick.
Tsushima throws a front kick aimed at Tatum's knee but Tatum avoids it well.
Tatum ducks right into an uppercut from Tsushima.
Tsushima scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Tatum throws a hook but Tsushima avoids it easily.
Tsushima feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Tatum's calf.
Tatum avoids the head kick by Tsushima.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tsushima. That's going to slow Tatum down.
Lewis Tsushima seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Tatum on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Tatum, as that shot connected.


It looks like Lewis Tsushima has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A shot to the liver by Tsushima. Beautiful body shot.
The fighters circle momentarily. Tsushima darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tsushima lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Tsushima throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Tsushima scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Tatum doesn't seem bothered though.

Tatum takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

The crowd cheers as Tsushima lands an impressive looking overhand right. Tatum doesn't seem phased though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tsushima lands with a hook. Tatum tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Tsushima connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Tsushima lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Tsushima changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tatum looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Tsushima looks up at the clock and then as Tatum takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Tsushima smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Tsushima wants to control but Tatum is keeping him busy.
Tsushima is putting a hurting on Tatum here, landing some big shots from side control.

Tsushima tries to advance to mount but can't.
Tatum regains half guard, as Tsushima was trying to land strikes.
Tsushima throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Tsushima working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Tatum's thigh. Tatum counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Tsushima looking to sit in guard and control but Tatum gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Tatum has gone for a leg lock! Tsushima slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tatum's guard.

Tsushima has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Tatum lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Tatum is looking to work some ground and pound but Tsushima has wrist control.
Tatum throws and elbow that misses. Tsushima uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tatum's guard. Nice move by Tsushima!

Tatum has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Lewis Tsushima showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tatum sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Tsushima takes a little break here. Tatum wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Tsushima has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Tatum manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Tatum is looking to control Tsushima's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tatum avoid being mounted?
Tsushima perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Tsushima seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tatum does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Lewis Tsushima comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tsushima has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
