The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cummings chopping away at his opponent's legs.
John tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cummings manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

John moves into the clinch.

Cummings breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

John closes the distance and pushes Cummings back into the cage.
Cummings is trying to push John away but John has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Cummings pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from John is defended easily by Cummings.
The fighters circle momentarily. Cummings darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Sambo John has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
John tries to clinch but Cummings moves out of range.
John will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
John drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
John shoots in for a double leg but Cummings sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
TJ Cummings has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sambo John.
John looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cummings is fending him off so far but John persists. Nope, Cummings circles away and we're back to standing.
John looks gassed!
and Cummings counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts John! He's just covering up as Cummings starts to tee off till referee steps in and stops the fight!
