Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Rodriguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Krystian Kaczala!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez throws a head kick that misses.
Rodriguez looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Kaczala shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Kaczala sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Kaczala unloads with some shots from mount but Rodriguez bucks and avoids them well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kaczala gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Ivan Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kaczala shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kaczala showed some decent athleticism there.

Kaczala drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rodriguez pulls his leg out and moves away.

Kaczala closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kaczala lands in his opponent's guard.

Kaczala stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rodriguez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kaczala stays in close to Rodriguez's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
I looks like Kaczala might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Rodriguez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kaczala on the ground.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Krystian Kaczala hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kaczala throws a hook but Rodriguez blocks it.

Kaczala feints and as Rodriguez raises his hands in defense, Kaczala changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kaczala stands and steps away. Rodriguez gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Kaczala closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kaczala is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ivan Rodriguez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kaczala has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kaczala shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Kaczala shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rodriguez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kaczala thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kaczala controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Kaczala wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rodriguez, who protects the arm well.

Krystian Kaczala comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kaczala has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
