The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pekar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Omega as he jumps to the side.

Harvey Pekar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Pekar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Omega manages to avoid it.

Omega throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Pekar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Pekar rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Omega moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Omega does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Pekar jabs Omega right on the nose. Omega blinks but takes it well.

Omega is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Pekar scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Pekar digs a good body shot into Omega's ribs.
Pekar stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Pekar chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Omega can pounce on him.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round but I would say that Thor Omega will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
