Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Preston Schmidli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willis McGenessy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schmidli comes into the arena with Swimming with Dolphins - Fast Car blaring out of the sound system. McGenessy has chosen Punch Out!!! as his entrance music. Willis McGenessy struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGenessy throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Schmidli takes a head kick and keeps coming.

McGenessy is trying to maintain a safe position but Schmidli gets an underhook and turns McGenessy into the cage.

Schmidli sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McGenessy's guard.

Schmidli is working for a kimura but McGenessy is defending it quite comfortably.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Schmidli prevents McGenessy from improving his position.

McGenessy is defending against the submission attempts here by Schmidli.

That was a close round but I would say that Preston Schmidli will probably get the nod.

Schmidli had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. McGenessy defends it easily.

Schmidli escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGenessy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McGenessy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
McGenessy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
