PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Liu Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Georges St Clair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). St Clair has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Liu Kang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges St Clair!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
St Clair avoids a kick to the body.
Liu Kang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
St Clair looks gassed!
Kang throws an overhand right that lands on St Clair's shoulder, as St Clair tries to avoid the shot.

Kang clinches.

Kang breaks from the clinch.

Kang moves into the clinch.
St Clair blocking some punches.

Kang manages to break the clinch.
Kang could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
St Clair defending well as Kang loads up on a big left hand.

St Clair drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kang gets the underhooks and prevents it.

St Clair drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kang looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kang looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kang!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

St Clair takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Kang knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for St Clair on the ground.

Kang throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as St Clair stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Kang follows into mount!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kang cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

and Kang counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

St Clair working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kang doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kang manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kang decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Kang seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kang lands a big shot there that rocks St Clair but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Kang has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
