Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rashad Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Muse - Knights of Cydonia. Rashad Evans has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rashad Evans!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evans clinches up with Thomas and pushes him back against the cage.

Evans gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Evans throwing shots but Thomas is blocking nicely.
Thomas is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Evans's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Evans's back!
Evans controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

Thomas looking for the choke but no joy.
Evans tries to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thomas looking for the RNC.
Thomas not allowing Evans to control his hands.

Evans tries to escape but Thomas has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Evans rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Evans trying to get back to full guard but Thomas takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Evans defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Thomas.
Evans gets back to half guard.

Thomas wants to free his trapped foot but Evans is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Evans scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Thomas manages to mount him!
Evans is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Evans tries to improve his position but instead Thomas has taken his back!
Evans can't escape the position.
Evans holding both Thomas 's hands and preventing any damage.
Evans rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Evans won't allow Thomas to pass to mount.
Evans is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Thomas jumps into side control!
Evans looking for a sweep but Thomas has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Evans tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Evans regains half guard.
Evans looks gassed!
Evans is trying to control but Thomas manages to pass to mount!
Evans tries to strike from the bottom but he's left himself exposed and Thomas has taken his back.

Evans breaks Thomas's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Evans tries to free his leg and advance position but Thomas is retaining full guard.
Evans throws a strike but Thomas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Thomas passes into half guard.

Evans manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Evans tries for a takedown but Thomas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Thomas gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Evans has Thomas pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Thomas manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Thomas drags the fight down to the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Thomas dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Evans shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Evans was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Evans putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
Evans is landing with some decent strikes but Thomas is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Evans looking to secure an arm triangle but Thomas defends it well.
Evans looking to finish Thomas with some ground and pound. This is bad for Thomas!
Thomas is looking to get to half guard.
Thomas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Evans breaks from Thomas's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Evans landing strikes from the mount.

Evans lands a nice shot to the head.
Evans punishing his opponent with strikes.
Evans wants to control the action but instead Thomas gets a body lock and reverses into Evans's guard! Nice work!

Evans working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Thomas has passed into half guard!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Evans regains full guard. Nicely done.

Thomas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Evans manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Evans fails to advance to Thomas's back.

Evans with the ground and pound from mount.
Thomas is looking to get to half guard.
Evans unloading with bombs!
Thomas in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Evans is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Thomas can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Thomas regains half guard.
Rashad Evans has got the better of the ground game so far.
Evans scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Evans seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Thomas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Evans is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Evans goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Thomas is on top in guard.
Evans keeping moving, preventing Thomas from controlling successfully.
Thomas is fighting to break Evans's control of his arms but Evans is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Evans throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Thomas avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Evans throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Evans lands an upkick as Thomas stands over him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Evans manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Thomas manages to get himself to full guard.

Thomas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evans doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Evans manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rashad Evans showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Thomas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Evans tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Thomas counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Thomas.

Thomas ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Thomas no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Evans sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Thomas's guard.

Evans looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Evans tries to pass the half guard into mount. Thomas knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Evans is tying to control. Thomas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Evans is looking to pass Thomas's guard but actually Thomas recovers to full guard.

Evans drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Thomas dives on top into guard.

Evans tries to roll over but Thomas keeps him under control.

Thomas moves into full mount! Evans won't be happy about that!

Evans bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Thomas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Evans stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Thomas has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Evans manages to get his head free but now Thomas has transitioned to an armbar! Evans grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Thomas! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:04 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ryan Thomas!
