PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between George Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Corleone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fisher comes to the cage accompanied by Cannibal Corpse - Priests of Sodom. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Fisher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Corleone!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Corleone swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fisher throws a body kick that misses.
Corleone misses with a head kick.
Fisher slaps away a takedown attempt from Corleone, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Corleone misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Fisher.
Corleone checks a leg kick.
Corleone throws a leg kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Fisher tries to clinch but Corleone moves out of range.
Fisher tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Corleone manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fisher blocks a jab.
Fisher throws a looping overhand right but Corleone ducks down to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corleone shoots in for a takedown but Fisher shows good takedown defense.

Corleone stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fisher swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Corleone working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Corleone wants to sweep but no luck.
Corleone has Fisher pulled in close to control his posture.
Let's hope that Corleone has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Fisher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Corleone swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Corleone pulls Fisher in close to his closed guard and prevents Fisher from doing any damage or advancing position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A telegraphed right hand from Corleone misses the target.
Fisher tries to close the distance and clinch but Corleone swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
George Fisher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fisher scores with a crisp jab that stopped Corleone in his tracks.

Corleone wants to pass the guard but Fisher is defending well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Corleone wants to take a breather but Fisher is having none of it.

Corleone is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Fisher is trying to maintain the position but Corleone is very close to passing his half guard.

Corleone content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Corleone works his way into side control.
Corleone creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Fisher sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Corleone swings around for an armbar but Fisher sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Corleone's guard.

Corleone is trying to keep Fisher in close.
Corleone seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Corleone looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fisher is one step ahead there.

Michael Corleone showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Fisher throws the kick towards the body but Corleone avoids it.

Corleone dives in and grabs Fisher's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fisher pushes down on Corleone's head and hops out.
Corleone lands a jab to the nose.

The fighters circling - Fisher throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Corleone on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Fisher wants to control but Corleone is keeping busy.

Corleone is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fisher is just riding it out for now. Corleone eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Michael Corleone is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Corleone stands and throws Fisher's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Michael Corleone comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Corleone has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
