Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Pool (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake DuVernois (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Pool!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jake DuVernois!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DuVernois stuffs the takedown attempt from Pool. Pool gets slowly back to his feet.
Pool shoots in looking for a takedown but DuVernois manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pool's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Good leg kick by Pool there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
DuVernois avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
DuVernois throws a series of punches but Pool moves out of range.
Pool shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has DuVernois pinned against the cage. DuVernois gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Pool. That's going to take a lot out of him.
An inside leg kick from Pool misses.
DuVernois walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as DuVernois takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Pool has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Pool avoids the head kick by DuVernois.
DuVernois shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pool sprawls well. Pool wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. DuVernois gets slowly back to his feet.

Pool stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. DuVernois swivels though and keeps the full guard.
DuVernois manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pool wants to control but DuVernois is having none of it.
Pool is looking to improve his position but DuVernois isn't that keen on the idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
DuVernois tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
DuVernois trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Pool is in all sorts of trouble here.
Pool wants to hold on but DuVernois pushes him away.
Pool is working to get back to half guard.
DuVernois controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pool works over DuVernois's head and body with a nice combination.
Pool throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and DuVernois counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by DuVernois.
Pool is looking to break free of the clinch but DuVernois has double underhooks.

DuVernois lands a body shot in the clinch.
Pool presses DuVernois against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
DuVernois prevents a takedown attempt there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pool shoots and misses

and DuVernois counters by clinching up.
Pool lands a nice uppercut.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by DuVernois as Pool tries to tie him up.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Pool is looking to break free of the clinch but DuVernois has double underhooks.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

DuVernois ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. DuVernois no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
DuVernois trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Pool trying to control but DuVernois is working from the bottom.
Pool controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Pool wants to control from the top but DuVernois keeps moving.

We're going to have a standup here because Brian Pool wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Pool shoots for a double leg takedown but DuVernois sprawls well. He's pushed Pool's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jake DuVernois will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pool pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
