PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pancho Pantera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Lancaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lancaster has chosen Pain by Three Days Grace as his entrance music. The key to victory for Pancho Pantera has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pancho Pantera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Troy Lancaster!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lancaster closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pantera struggling a bit here.
Pantera is trying to escape the position but Lancaster is controlling the position.
Pantera tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Lancaster presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Pantera tries to hold on but Lancaster pushes him away.
Lancaster wants to control the pace but Pantera is squirming around nicely.

Pantera is trying to control but can't.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Troy Lancaster.
Pantera fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pantera pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Lancaster back to the cage. Pantera follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Lancaster circles away from the clinch attempt.

Lancaster shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lancaster was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Pantera is wriggling around trying to escape.

Lancaster can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pantera is looking to escape.
Pantera tries to hold on but Lancaster pushes him away.
Lancaster content just to control the position here.

Pantera is looking to improve his position but Lancaster isn't that keen on the idea.
Lancaster tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Lancaster trying to control but Pantera is having none of it.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lancaster is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pantera can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Lancaster shoots in and bounces Pantera off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Pantera controls Lancaster momentarily but Lancaster frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lancaster's corner is telling him to maintain position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pantera gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Lancaster decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Pantera's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lancaster trying to control the position from guard on top but Pantera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pantera had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lancaster defends it easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Lancaster avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Pantera is trying to control the position but Lancaster postures up.
Lancaster is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Lancaster really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pantera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Pantera looking for a sweep. Not yet Pantera, not yet.

Lancaster controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Lancaster passes Pantera's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Lancaster not doing much here.
Lancaster winds up and cracks Pantera with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Pantera is looking to control Lancaster's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pantera avoid being mounted?

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Pantera tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Lancaster counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Lancaster stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pantera swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lancaster wants to pass the guard but Pantera is keeping the position.
Pantera tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Troy Lancaster showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Lancaster stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pantera swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pantera lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lancaster!
Pantera lands a big shot there that rocks Lancaster but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

You get the feeling that Lancaster really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Pantera throws some wild stikes that Lancaster manages to avoid easily.
Pantera won't let Lancaster get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Lancaster takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Pantera looking to ground and pound but Lancaster is blocking nicely.
Lancaster wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Pantera.
Lancaster wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee warns Lancaster that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Pantera working for a guillotine from mount but Lancaster is in no mood to give up.
Lancaster tries to buck Pantera off but he can't manage it.

Pantera throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Pantera misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Pantera throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Lancaster because Pantera loaded up on that one.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Pantera is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Lancaster is surviving well by controlling Pantera's body position as best he can.
Lancaster is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Pantera is landing with some decent strikes but Lancaster is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pancho Pantera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lancaster really wants to buck Pantera off and get back to his feet.
Lancaster is squirming around, avoiding Pantera's attempts to control the action.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pancho Pantera showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lancaster has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
