Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maximus Desangre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Stajin!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Desangre fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Stajin sprawls well initially but Desangre persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Desangre seems to be working for a kimura but Stajin defends the submission attempt.
Stajin wants to control but Desangre is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Stajin wants to improve his position but Desangre is controlling well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stajin can do anything to dispel that myth.
Desangre not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Stajin tries to get to full guard but Desangre has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stajin throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Desangre is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Stajin has managed to free his arm - good work.
Stajin lands a couple of sideways elbows.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Desangre drives through and clinches with Stajin against the cage.
Stajin tries to break the clinch but Desangre is controlling the position.
Stajin tries to score a body lock takedown but Desangre shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Stajin is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Desangre can't fight it off and eventually Stajin manages to take the fight to the floor. Desangre looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Desangre has momentary wrist control but Stajin slips an elbow through the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Stajin trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Desangre keeping moving, preventing Stajin from controlling successfully.
Stajin content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Stajin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Desangre works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Desangre is on top in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Desangre advances position into side control!
Desangre landing a few strikes.
Desangre cracks Stajin with a big elbow.
Stajin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Desangre's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Desangre! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Stajin has tapped! This one is allllll over!
