PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bennie Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kid GNP (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kid GNP!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bishop thows a body kick. GNP tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Bishop pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces GNP back to the cage. Bishop follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
GNP on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Bishop. Bishop obviously looking to wear him down.
Bishop pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bishop closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Bishop throws the kick towards the body but GNP avoids it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bishop working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. GNP doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. GNP manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round but I would say that Bennie Bishop will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Both fighters circling a little - Bishop finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Bishop explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
GNP throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

GNP throws a lazy right hand but Bishop sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

GNP has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Bishop's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Bishop duly obliges.
GNP shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bishop sprawls well. Bishop wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. GNP gets slowly back to his feet.
GNP takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Bishop scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
GNP gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! GNP tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Bishop is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and GNP buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves GNP!! GNP is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Bishop throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bennie Bishop!
