PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Belov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcos Correia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Correia's choice of entrance music: Drowning in torment. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander Belov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcos Correia!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Correia swivels and escapes.

so Belov counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Belov tries to free his leg and advance position but Correia is retaining full guard.
Belov trying to control but Correia is working from the bottom.

Belov is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Belov is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Correia is aware though and is defending well.

Belov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That was a close round but I would say that Alexander Belov will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Correia changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Belov looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Correia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Correia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Belov keeps working.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Correia wants to control from the top but Belov keeps moving.

Belov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Correia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Correia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Marcos Correia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Correia tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Correia has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Correia accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alexander Belov.
I think Belov has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
