Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ryan Harrison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Maia!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maia tries to keep at a distance but Harrison has taken the fight into the clinch.
Harrison lands a nice elbow.


It looks like Bruno Maia has been cut.
Harrison is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Harrison for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Harrison seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

That has opened up Bruno Maia's cut even more.
Maia tries to pull guard but Harrison won't allow it.
Ryan Harrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Maia.

Maia thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Harrison's head.
Harrison knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maia on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Maia is working for a kimura but Harrison is defending it quite comfortably.
Harrison is trying to get back to full guard.

Maia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Harrison keeps working.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryan Harrison will probably get the nod.

and Harrison counters with a left to the body.
Harrison attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Harrison throws an overhand right that lands on Maia's shoulder, as Maia tries to avoid the shot.

Maia uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Harrison.

and Maia counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Harrison thinking.
Ryan Harrison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maia tries for a takedown but Harrison circles away easily
and Harrison counters with a straight right hand.
Harrison moves in looking to clinch but Maia pushes him off.

and Harrison counters with a stiff right hand.


The cut above Bruno Maia's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Harrison closes the distance looking to clinch

and Maia counters with a nice double leg into side control. Harrison won't be happy with that.

Maia is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Harrison has escaped the position, nice work there.
Harrison manages to get back to half guard.
Harrison wants to control the action here but instead Maia manages to pass to full mount!

Maia is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Harrison to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Harrison shrugs it off.

Harrison prevents Maia from taking his back.

Maia jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Harrison is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Harrison and Maia has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harrison manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Harrison in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Maia wants to control but Harrison is keeping busy.
Harrison is taking a breather. Maia says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Harrison wants to free his trapped foot but Maia is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Harrison keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Maia looking for subs from the bottom but Harrison mounts him!
Harrison tries to control but Maia wriggling away.
Harrison takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
