The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rafael takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Hurt tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rafael tries to clinch but Hurt moves out of range.
No luck for Rafael with that takedown attempt.
Hurt lands a two punch combo.

It looks like Elpidio Rafael has been cut.
Rafael's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Hurt connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rafael scrambles back to his feet.
Rafael shoots in and drives through. Hurt sprawls well.

Rafael jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hurt walks away with a smile on his face. Rafael gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Hurt counters with a head kick.
Rafael tries for a takedown but Hurt circles away easily
and Hurt counters with a body kick that stops Rafael in his tracks momentarily.
Hurt throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hurt lands a leg kick that knocks Rafael off balance momentarily.

and Hurt counters with a head kick. That will keep Rafael thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Rafael moves to clinch but Hurt breaks away
and Hurt cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Hurt throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Rafael's head.
Hurt misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hurt lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Rafael misses with a body shot.

Hurt has Rafael up against the cage in a clinch.

Hurt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Rafael avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rafael is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hurt is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Rafael.
Hurt throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Elpidio Rafael's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rafael has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Hurt.
Hurt lands a front kick.

Hurt darts in and clinches Rafael up against the cage.

Hurt lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Hurt goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Rafael looks to clinch
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Hurt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hurt turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Rafael's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Hurt tries a head kick but it misses.
Rafael swats away the attempt to clinch by Hurt.

and Hurt counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Rafael is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Rafael has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Hurt.
Hurt cracks Rafael with a good jab.
