PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fatty McJitsu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marco Polo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Polo has chosen Mind, Body, & Soul as his entrance music. Marco Polo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fatty McJitsu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marco Polo!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McJitsu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McJitsu wants it to stay on the feet.
McJitsu takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
McJitsu slips a jab and a cross from Polo.
McJitsu avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McJitsu lands with an uppercut that bounces Polo off the cage and back into rage.

It looks like Marco Polo has been cut.
McJitsu displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Polo.
Polo misses with a low kick.
McJitsu keeps the fight on the outside.
Polo misses with a straight right.
Polo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
McJitsu throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Polo counters with a nice leg kick.
Sloppy strikes from McJitsu. Those never looked like landing.
McJitsu throws a nice looking combination but Polo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McJitsu throws a right and a left that both miss.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Polo enables McJitsu to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Polo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McJitsu won't allow Polo to sweep him here.
McJitsu works over Polo with some ground and pound from guard.
McJitsu lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Polo is trying to keep McJitsu in close.

McJitsu gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
McJitsu tries to bum rush Polo with a series of wild strikes but Polo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Polo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. McJitsu manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

McJitsu tries to sprawl but Polo drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Polo stops McJitsu from getting back to his feet.
Polo trying to mount his opponent but McJitsu defends it.
McJitsu moves into full guard.

McJitsu throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McJitsu striking off his back but it's not causing Polo any problems.

McJitsu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Polo is aware though and is defending well.
Polo won't allow McJitsu to sweep him here.
Polo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Polo throws a big right hand that misses.

McJitsu looking for a guillotine here but Polo defends easily.
McJitsu pulls Polo in close to his closed guard and prevents Polo from doing any damage or advancing position.
Polo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of McJitsu's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

McJitsu has his foot on Polo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Polo works his way back into a safe position though.
Polo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Polo trying to control the position from guard on top but McJitsu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Polo decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on McJitsu, up you get!
Polo tries to close the distance and clinch but McJitsu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No joy there for McJitsu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Marco Polo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Polo falls off balance throwing a combination
and McJitsu counters with a left and a right that stings Polo.
Polo swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Polo takes a swing at McJitsu's ribcage but misses.
Polo shoots and misses

and McJitsu counters with a nice double leg into side control. Polo won't be happy with that.
Fatty McJitsu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Polo.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Polo is trying to control McJitsu's posture but McJitsu avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McJitsu thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
McJitsu scoring with punches and elbows.

That has opened up Marco Polo's cut even more.
Polo avoids any damage from the ground and pound of McJitsu.
McJitsu creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Polo sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Polo stops McJitsu from passing to mount.
McJitsu misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
McJitsu advances to mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McJitsu has control of Polo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Polo regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Polo is looking to improve his position but McJitsu isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fatty McJitsu dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Marco Polo's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Polo closes the distance looking to clinch

and McJitsu counters with a shoot takedown. Polo fights it but they end up in guard.
McJitsu slips nicely into half guard.
McJitsu not doing much here.
Polo is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McJitsu's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McJitsu's back!
Polo is trying to stick to McJitsu's back but McJitsu is turning into Polo. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Polo's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by McJitsu.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

McJitsu stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Polo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
McJitsu wants to control but Polo is having none of it.
Polo breaks from McJitsu's wrist control and lands an elbow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McJitsu sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Polo prevents McJitsu from improving his position.
McJitsu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Polo is working away from the top position though.
McJitsu gets full guard.
McJitsu controls Polo momentarily but Polo frees himself.
McJitsu keeping moving, preventing Polo from controlling successfully.

McJitsu looking for a triangle here. Polo is fighting it but it looks tight! McJitsu pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Polo is tapping out - this one is all over!
