Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carl Jonson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vic Sommers!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sommers swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jonson throws a right and a left that Sommers avoids nicely.
Sommers misses with a two punch combination.
Jonson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sommers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sommers lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.


It looks like Carl Jonson has been cut.
Jonson misses with a double jab

and Sommers counters with a shoot takedown. Jonson fights it but they end up in guard.
Sommers postures up in Jonson's guard and throws a big left but Jonson blocks it.
Sommers throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Jonson has momentary wrist control but Sommers slips an elbow through the middle.
Sommers throwing strikes but missing.
Jonson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Sommers postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Sommers throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jonson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Sommers's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Jonson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jonson tries to get out of the position.
Sommers with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jonson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sommers on the ground.
Sommers passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Sommers is looking to take a break and control but Jonson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sommers creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Jonson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sommers.
Sommers sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jonson is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Sommers misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Sommers tries to score with some ground and pound. Jonson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jonson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Sommers.
Sommers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jonson gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Sommers unloads with some shots from mount but Jonson bucks and avoids them well.
Sommers lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Sommers is landing with some decent strikes but Jonson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Sommers pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Sommers looking to control but Jonson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Sommers in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.


Jonson is rocked!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sommers is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Jonson goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Sommers!
