PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brett Rambo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and donkey kong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rambo kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Rocketeer. donkey kong is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, donkey kong!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rambo wants to land a leg kick but kong is out of range.

kong feints and as Rambo raises his hands in defense, kong changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

kong slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rambo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rambo tries to get out of the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Rambo tries to bum rush kong with a series of wild strikes but kong uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

donkey kong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. kong connects with a nice short shot to Rambo's temple.

kong goes for a takedown attempt but Rambo pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rambo. kong does a little dance to reset his feet.
kong tries to close the distance and clinch but Rambo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Brett Rambo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

kong has Rambo pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rambo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Brett Rambo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of donkey kong.
kong is trying to drag Rambo to the mat but Rambo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
kong takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rambo is pressed up against the cage. kong has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rambo down to the mat. Rambo avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

It looks like donkey kong has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
kong changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rambo tries to avoid it but kong manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rambo to the ground. Rambo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rambo connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt kong! He's out on his feet! Rambo rushes in and drops kong with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
