Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cole Trane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sami Kolari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cole Trane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Sami Kolari!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trane avoids the head kick by Kolari.
Trane moves in looking to clinch but Kolari pushes him off.
A looping hook to the body misses from Trane. Kolari does a little dance to reset his feet.
Trane looks to throw the jab but Kolari is out of range.

Trane closes the distance and clinches.
Kolari working Trane over with knees to the body.
The referee is keeping an eye on Kolari - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Kolari breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kolari connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Trane's hands.
Trane throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Trane is looking to clinch.
Kolari slips a straight right by Trane.
Trane throws a big shot that misses.
Trane closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kolari circles away.
Kolari scores with a punch to the head.
Kolari circles away from the clinch attempt.
Trane misses the shot to the body.
Kolari throws a head kick but Trane moves out of range.
Trane moves in looking to clinch but Kolari pushes him off.

Trane shoots in and bounces Kolari off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Trane throws and elbow that misses. Kolari uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Trane's guard. Nice move by Kolari!

Trane working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kolari doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kolari manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Trane has his foot on Kolari's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kolari works his way back into a safe position though.

Trane is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kolari defends well.
Trane tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Kolari seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Kolari working over Trane with some ground and pound. Trane looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Kolari seems to be working for a kimura but Trane defends the submission attempt.
Kolari is controlling the pace.
Trane is looking for a sweep. Kolari is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Trane is working hard here to advance position.
Kolari seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Kolari trying to pass the guard but Trane defending well.
Kolari frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Kolari is landing with some decent strikes but Trane is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Trane tries to improve his position but instead Kolari has taken his back!
Trane manages to reverse the position and now he's in Kolari's guard. Nice work there by Trane.

Trane postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kolari is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Trane, into his guard.

Kolari is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kolari has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Trane looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kolari is one step ahead there.

Kolari got a little sloppy there for a moment and Trane has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kolari has managed to get both his arms back between Trane's legs - danger averted.

Trane wants to sweep but no luck.

Kolari drops back looking for a leg! Trane is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Trane manages to kick Kolari off! Kolari jumps back into Trane's guard.

Kolari is looking to work some ground and pound but Trane has wrist control.
Trane wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sami Kolari dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kolari leaves Trane with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A thudding body kick lands there by Kolari!

Trane ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kolari moves away.
Trane tries for a takedown but Kolari sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Kolari, right into the meat.
Trane wants to clinch up but Kolari keeps it at a distance.
Trane throws a shot from downtown. Kolari moves away and avoids it.
Trane loads up on a big right hand but Kolari slips the punch.
Trane looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cole Trane. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kolari lands a jab.
Nice takedown defense from Kolari. No joy for Trane on that attempt.
Kolari misses with a head kick.

Kolari gets tackled into the cage by Trane. Trane maintains the clinch.
A bit of stalling here from Kolari.
Trane misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Trane is trying to trip Kolari. He has hold of a leg but Kolari is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Trane persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Kolari is looking for a triangle but Trane pushes his legs off easily.

Kolari is looking for a kimura but Trane is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kolari to get the leverage.

Trane tries to get to full guard but Kolari has control of the leg.
Kolari works his way into side control.
Kolari advances to mount.
Kolari raining down hammerfists from mount.
Trane is in a horrible position here. Kolari smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kolari prevents Trane from getting the reversal.

Kolari has hold of Trane's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Trane manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kolari throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Trane has his hands clasped together but Kolari breaks the hold and Trane is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Kolari!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sami Kolari!
