PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Antoine Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Murdock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Antoine Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brian Murdock!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murdock tries to close the distance and clinch but Wallace swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Murdock moves into the clinch.

Murdock manages to break the clinch.

Murdock drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Wallace tries to improve position but can't.
Murdock working the ground and pound but Wallace is defending the strikes.

Murdock is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wallace knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Wallace could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Wallace manages to work his way to half guard, despite Murdock's best efforts.

Wallace on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wallace tries to get out of the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Murdock wants to control from the top but Wallace keeps moving.

Murdock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wallace swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Murdock got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wallace has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Murdock has managed to get both his arms back between Wallace's legs - danger averted.

You can see the frustration on Wallace's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Wallace tries to buck Murdock off but Murdock is having none of it.
Wallace is trying to control Murdock's posture but Murdock avoids it.
Murdock wants to stand but Wallace is controlling his arm.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Wallace avoids the head kick by Murdock.
Wallace uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Murdock.
Wallace dodges the punch combination from Murdock.
No joy there for Murdock, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wallace feints and as Murdock raises his hands in defense, Wallace changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Wallace's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Wallace has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Murdock is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Wallace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brian Murdock hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
The fighters circling - Wallace throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Murdock shoots in and bounces Wallace off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wallace pulls Murdock in close to his closed guard and prevents Murdock from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wallace wants to sweep but no luck.

Wallace had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Murdock defends it easily.

Wallace escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Murdock gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Wallace bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Murdock's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Murdock gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Wallace counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Wallace is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Murdock is just riding it out for now. Wallace eventually gives up the hold.

Wallace seems to be looking for submissions.

Wallace is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Murdock doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wallace.
Murdock is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wallace's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wallace's back!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Wallace drops back looking for a leg! Murdock is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Murdock manages to kick Wallace off! Wallace jumps back into Murdock's guard.

Murdock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wallace sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Murdock's guard.
Murdock tries to roll over but Wallace keeps him under control.

Wallace stands up from half guard.
Murdock avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wallace throws a hook to the side of Murdock's head but Murdock sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Murdock wants to clinch.

Wallace darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Murdock is trying to stand.
Wallace is pressing down on Murdock's thigh, looking to free his foot. Murdock is holding on for now.
Wallace works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wallace has hold of Murdock's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Murdock manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Wallace takes Murdock's back.

Wallace has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Murdock is in real trouble here. Wallace gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Murdock is tapping out! Wallace wins by rear naked choke!
