Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaito Takamine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wii Todd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaito Takamine has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kaito Takamine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wii Todd!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Todd keeps the fight on the outside.

Takamine looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Todd escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Takamine gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Takamine loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Takamine trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Takamine trying to control the position from guard on top but Todd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Todd keeping full guard, as Takamine tries to pass.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takamine would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Todd is adopting a defensive guard.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Takamine holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Takamine is looking to break free of the clinch but Todd has double underhooks.
Takamine lands an elbow inside.
Takamine can't get the takedown.

Todd has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Takamine is trying to keep an underhook but Todd manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Todd wants to advance to full mount but Takamine doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Takamine is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Todd loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Todd wants to control from the top but Takamine keeps moving.
Todd won't allow Takamine to sweep him here.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Takamine is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Wii Todd was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Todd tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Takamine counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Todd is trying to drag Takamine to the mat but Takamine just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Todd prevents Takamine from breaking the clinch.
Takamine throws an elbow that misses.

Todd jumps guard and drags Takamine to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Takamine wanted to stand there but Todd had control of the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Todd bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Takamine's guard.
Takamine wants to hit a switch here but Todd passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Takamine there!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wii Todd dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Todd gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Takamine holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Takamine manages to break the clinch.
Takamine tries to clinch but Todd moves out of range.

Todd fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Takamine, pushing him back against the cage.
Takamine stops a takedown attempt from Todd.
Todd avoiding damage as Takamine throws knees to the body.
Todd prevents Takamine from breaking the clinch.
Todd tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Takamine avoids it.
Takamine can't get the takedown.
Takamine is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Todd goes for a takedown in the clinch but Takamine prevents it.
Takamine tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Todd just stands there and leans against the cage.

Takamine turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Takamine manages to end up in side control.
Todd regains half guard.

Takamine is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Todd sees it coming and defends easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Takamine throws a strike but Todd avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Todd wants to sweep here but Takamine controlling him for the moment.

Todd is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Takamine stands up from Todd's guard - Takamine perhaps looking for a knockout.
Takamine tries to close the distance and clinch but Todd swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Takamine throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Todd doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Takamine moves into the clinch.
Kaito Takamine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wii Todd.
Takamine manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Todd blocks an elbow strike from Takamine.

Todd jumps guard and drags Takamine to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Takamine drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Takamine jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Todd looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Takamine puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Takamine is looking to advance position but Todd won't allow it.
Takamine passes to side control.
Takamine tries to advance to mount but can't.

Takamine stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Takamine throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Todd was covering up waiting for the punch and Takamine finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Todd pulls Takamine in close to his closed guard and prevents Takamine from doing any damage or advancing position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Takamine accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Takamine slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Todd is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Takamine counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Todd is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Todd takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Takamine pushes down on Todd's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Takamine wants to take a breather but Todd is having none of it.

Kaito Takamine has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

and Takamine counters with a big head kick but Todd shrugs it off.
Takamine is looking to clinch.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Takamine has his takedown stuffed
and Todd makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Todd gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Todd takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kaito Takamine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wii Todd.

and Todd counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Kaito Takamine overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Todd wants to stand but Takamine is controlling his posture from full guard.

Takamine is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Takamine is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Takamine keeping moving, preventing Todd from controlling successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Takamine looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Todd is stalling in the full guard.
Todd working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kaito Takamine.
Well Takamine has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
