PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donnie Badge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Brooklyn by Jay Z. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Badge pushes Johnson up against the cage in a clinch.

Badge is trying to trip Johnson. He has hold of a leg but Johnson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Badge persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Johnson throws his legs up looking for a submission but Badge uses it to pass to side control.
Johnson is looking to regain half guard here but Badge keeps moving and retains side control.
Badge remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Johnson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Badge walks away with a smile on his face. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Badge decides to stand back up. Badge steps back and let's Johnson get back to his feet.

Badge closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Johnson quickly recovers to half guard.

Badge stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Badge throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.

Johnson avoids the head kick by Badge.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Badge lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Johnson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Johnson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Badge closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Johnson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Badge to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Badge gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Badge wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Badge defends it easily.
Badge is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Badge is working for a kimura but Johnson is defending it quite comfortably.

Badge shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Johnson's guard.
Badge has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.

Johnson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Badge is aware though and is defending well.

Johnson has an active guard here but Badge has managed to pass into half guard.
Badge winds up and cracks Johnson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Johnson is looking for a sweep. Badge is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Badge fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Johnson sprawls well initially but Badge persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Badge seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well Badge has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
