Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruno Ferro!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ripa Saranapuolella!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Saranapuolella misses.
Ferro's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Saranapuolella connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ferro scrambles back to his feet.
Ferro takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Ferro fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Saranapuolella.
Saranapuolella lands a lovely overhand right.
Ferro shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Saranapuolella defends it nicely.
A shot to the body from Saranapuolella misses
and Ferro counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Saranapuolella swings away with a body shot that misses
letting Ferro counter with a right hand.
Ferro bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Saranapuolella falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ferro counters with an outside leg kick.
Ferro has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Saranapuolella finds it's way round the side to connect with Ferro's head.
Saranapuolella scores with a sloppy right hand. Ferro should have avoided that one.
Ferro takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Saranapuolella misses with a hook to the body
and Ferro counters with a leg kick.
Ferro keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Saranapuolella closes the distance but Ferro moves to the side
and Ferro counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Saranapuolella throws a poor cross that misses

and Ferro decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Saranapuolella's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ferro throws and elbow that misses. Saranapuolella uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ferro's guard. Nice move by Saranapuolella!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Saranapuolella wants to stand but Ferro is controlling his posture from full guard.

Ferro looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ferro is looking for a triangle but Saranapuolella pushes his legs off easily.

Ferro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Saranapuolella can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ferro has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Saranapuolella is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Ferro.

Ferro is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Saranapuolella off and has taken his back!

Ferro looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Saranapuolella is controlling Ferro 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ferro is looking to sweep but instead, Saranapuolella has passed into half guard.

Saranapuolella stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Saranapuolella thows a left - swing and a miss!
Saranapuolella misses the body punch
and Ferro counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and Ferro counters with a takedown into side control.

Ferro working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Saranapuolella prevents Ferro from improving position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ferro advances to mount.
Ferro wants to take Saranapuolella's back but he can't do it this time.
Saranapuolella has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ferro is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Saranapuolella has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Ferro has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Saranapuolella taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Ferro doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bruno Ferro!
