Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tony Fontana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abraham Lincoln (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lincoln has chosen Hail To The Chief as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abraham Lincoln!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lincoln swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lincoln keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Lincoln scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Lincoln takes a swing at Fontana's ribcage but misses.
Fontana doesn't manage to clinch there - Lincoln circles away.
Lincoln misses the shot to the body.
Lincoln swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lincoln swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fontana avoids the body shot from Lincoln.
Lincoln swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lincoln misses with a hook. Fontana ducked under it nicely.

Lincoln lands a glancing blow to the side of Fontana's head.

Fontana scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lincoln throws a body punch but Fontana moves out of range.
Fontana throws a sloppy head kick and Lincoln moves out of range easily.
Lincoln steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Fontana. That one must have hurt.
Lincoln throws a hook but Fontana blocks it.
Lincoln tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fontana was well out of range. Poor timing from Lincoln.

Fontana moves into the clinch successfully.

Fontana breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Fontana pushes Lincoln up against the cage in a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Fontana fails to land.
Lincoln drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fontana pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lincoln misses with an uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tony Fontana dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


The fighters circling - Lincoln throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Lincoln shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lincoln scores with a jab. Fontana acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Fontana tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Lincoln drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Fontana is looking for a sweep.
Lincoln wants to control but Fontana is keeping him busy.

Fontana struggling a bit here.
Lincoln controlling the position.
Lincoln is looking to take a break and control but Fontana is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ground and pound from Lincoln seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Fontana is trying to get back to his feet.

The strikes coming from Lincoln are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Fontana regains half guard there - taking advantage of Lincoln's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Still in half guard, Lincoln seems content to control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Abraham Lincoln hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Lincoln misses with a looping right.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lincoln smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Lincoln dips to his left and cracks Fontana with an uppercut!
Fontana tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lincoln swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Fontana is looking to clinch but Lincoln is avoiding it.
Lincoln throws a left and a right that both miss
and Fontana counters with a good low kick that Lincoln was not able to check.
Fontana shoots for a double leg takedown but Lincoln sprawls well. He's pushed Fontana's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lincoln thows a body shot but no joy.
Fontana is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Abraham Lincoln showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Fontana's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Lincoln will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Fontana bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lincoln misses with a straight left.
Fontana uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lincoln.
Lincoln shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fontana as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lincoln looks to land a left hand but Fontana moved out of range nicely.
Lincoln throws a right and a left that both miss.

Fontana has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fontana there as he acknowledges the shot.
Abraham Lincoln seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lincoln throws the left hand but Fontana avoids the punch easily.
Lincoln thows a left - swing and a miss!
Lincoln paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Lincoln misses with a few strikes there.

Fontana lands with a straight right. Lincoln didn't see that one coming.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lincoln circles away from the clinch attempt.
Fontana dodges the punch combination from Lincoln.
Lincoln throws a predictable looking body shot
and Fontana counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Lincoln lands with a hook. Fontana tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Lincoln misses with a looping left.
Lincoln throws a right and a left that Fontana avoids nicely.
Fontana ducks under a wild hook from Lincoln.
Lincoln fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Fontana manages to avoid it.

Fontana fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Fontana slips a jab from Lincoln.
Fontana tries to clinch up.
Nice uppercut lands for Lincoln. That snapped Fontana's head back.
Fontana wants to clinch up but Lincoln keeps it at a distance.
Lincoln thows a body shot but no joy.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Lincoln crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Fontana - the referee stops the clock and Lincoln gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Fontana. Lincoln manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Lincoln misses with a jab to the body
and Fontana counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Fontana is looking to clinch.
Lincoln with a lazy takedown attempt
and Fontana connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Tony Fontana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Abraham Lincoln.
Fontana takes a jab right on the kisser.
A looping hook to the body misses from Lincoln. Fontana does a little dance to reset his feet.

I would just about give that final round to Abraham Lincoln.
I think Lincoln has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
