Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and james potkukelkka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
potkukelkka tries to close the distance and clinch but Hughes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hughes shoots in but potkukelkka avoids the takedown attempt easily.
No luck for Hughes with that takedown attempt.
potkukelkka misses with a head kick.
potkukelkka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
potkukelkka misses with an uppercut. Hughes saw that one coming.
potkukelkka misses with a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hughes takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
potkukelkka throws a head kick but Hughes moves out of range.
potkukelkka moves in looking to clinch but Hughes pushes him off.

and potkukelkka counters with a nice uppercut.
potkukelkka throws a head kick that misses.
james potkukelkka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hughes with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling potkukelkka to score with a decent uppercut.
potkukelkka tries to clinch but Hughes moves out of range.

Hughes looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
potkukelkka can't keep his opponent in guard - Hughes advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
potkukelkka looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hughes seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hughes uses his free foot to push down on potkukelkka's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for potkukelkka.

Hughes connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Hughes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hughes won't let potkukelkka get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
potkukelkka looks gassed!
Hughes pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Hughes postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. potkukelkka looks a forlorn figure.
potkukelkka is in a horrible position here. Hughes smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
potkukelkka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hughes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Hughes! potkukelkka is hurt baaadly! Hughes is firing away with more strikes - potkukelkka is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
