Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gavin Gagnon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Pfaller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gagnon comes to the cage accompanied by Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake. Pfaller is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Smash Mouth - I Get Knocked Down. Patrick Pfaller will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gavin Gagnon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Patrick Pfaller!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Fedor Mirinova and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gagnon walks forward, straight into a front kick from Pfaller.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Pfaller.
Pfaller lands a nice looking kick to the body. Gagnon takes a step back to recover.
Gagnon dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Pfaller throws a nice outside leg kick.
Pfaller connects with a leg kick. Gagnon looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A nice inside leg kick there by Pfaller. That's going to slow Gagnon down.
Pfaller throws a nice inside leg kick.
Gagnon tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Pfaller moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Pfaller.
That kick from Pfaller tenderised Gagnon's leg. Gagnon is trying to keep his angry face on.

Gagnon feints and as Pfaller raises his hands in defense, Gagnon changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gagnon is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pfaller is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Gagnon is looking to work some ground and pound but Pfaller has wrist control.

Gagnon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pfaller for as long as he can get away with.

Gagnon wants to work for an arm triangle but Pfaller is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Pfaller is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gagnon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gagnon's back!
Pfaller is trying to stick to Gagnon's back but Gagnon is turning into Pfaller. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Pfaller's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Gagnon.

Gagnon drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pfaller manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gagnon has Pfaller in his guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Gavin Gagnon will probably get the nod.
That's time! Gagnon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Pfaller is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Gagnon wants to pass the guard but Pfaller is defending well.

Pfaller moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gagnon accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gagnon is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pfaller is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pfaller has escaped and now he's on top!

Gagnon has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Pfaller is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gagnon.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pfaller is squirming around, avoiding Gagnon's attempts to control the action.

Pfaller does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
