PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between george st piere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Jones's choice of entrance music: God Gave Me Style. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

st piere feints and as Jones raises his hands in defense, st piere changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
st piere is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but st piere has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jones avoiding damage under a succession of punches from st piere.
st piere wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with st piere in particular looking to stall.

st piere is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

george st piere has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

st piere changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

st piere feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
st piere throwing strikes here but Jones is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

st piere takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jones wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by st piere.

st piere has control of Jones's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jones regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with st piere. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
