Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Duck Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller tries to sprawl but Liddell drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Liddell is looking to pass Miller's guard but actually Miller recovers to full guard.
Miller has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Liddell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Liddellis looking to pass into half guard but Miller pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Miller is in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miller works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Liddell pushes Miller off but Miller dives into side control.
Liddell is trying to control Miller's posture but Miller avoids it.
Miller is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Liddell tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Liddell seems a little lost for a moment, as Miller dominates the positioning.
Liddell can't do much from the bottom here.
Liddell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Miller feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Liddell looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Miller has picked Liddell up and slammed him! Liddell can't keep hold of the triangle and Miller manages to pass to side control!

Miller working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Liddell wants to control but Miller postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Liddell is trying to escape the position but Miller is controlling the position.

Miller looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The referee asks Miller politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Miller prefers to stall for the moment though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Liddell wants to control but Miller postures up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Liddell doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Miller counters with a single leg into guard. Liddell didn't expect that.

Miller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Miller is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Marcus Miller overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Miller seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Liddell for as long as he can get away with.

and Miller decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Liddell's guard.
Liddell is breathing heavily.
Liddell is looking to stand back up but Miller counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Liddell.
Miller passes to full mount!
Miller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Liddell is in real trouble.
Miller is riding his opponent, not letting Liddell buck him off.

Miller punishes Liddell with strikes from the back mount.
Miller has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Liddell's body.
Miller lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Miller.
I would not like to be Liddell right now.
Liddell is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Miller off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Liddell is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Liddell is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Miller gets his way!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Miller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Liddell can't do much from the bottom here.
A lull in the action here as Miller stalls from top position.
Miller is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Liddell can do to turn this around?

Liddell is letting Miller control him for a moment.

Miller is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Liddell looks calm but he's in trouble here. Miller gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Liddell is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Miller lets go of the hold and Liddell can pop his arm back in it's socket.
