Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Keith Light (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bariga Gerich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Keith Light!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bariga Gerich!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gerich misses with a wild combination.
Light takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Bariga Gerich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gerich gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Light with a flurry of punches that miss.
Light throws a strike but Gerich rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Gerich missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Light wants to stand and escape but Gerich is having none of it.
Gerich trying to control but Light is working from the bottom.
Gerich postures up in Light's guard and throws a big left but Light blocks it.
Light on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Light tries to get out of the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gerich accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gerich thows a big elbow that misses.

Light is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Gerich is trying to force a seperation but Light has the dominant position.
Light is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gerich gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Gerich tries to break the clinch but Light is controlling the position.
Gerich is pressed up against the cage. Light has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gerich down to the mat. Gerich avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gerich throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Light fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keith Light. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gerich closes the distance and pushes Light back into the cage.
Gerich prevents the takedown attempt.
Light is breathing heavily.
Gerich tries to circle away but Light has him pinned against the cage.

Gerich breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Light counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gerich's guard now.
Gerich wants to get back to his feet but Light is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Light cracks Gerich with a solid left hand.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Light works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Light thows a huge punch but Gerich dodges it nicely.
Light is looking to take a break and control but Gerich is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Gerich keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Light takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Gerich avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Light.
Light throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Gerich has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Light misses with a head shot. Gerich uses the momentum to regain guard.

That's time! Light's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Light is trying to control. Gerich wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Light thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gerich's head.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Light is pressing down on Gerich's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gerich is holding on for now.
Light looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Gerich with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Light perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gerich tries to roll over but Light keeps him under control.
Light seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Gerich is trying to stand up here but Light is controlling him well.
Gerich is refusing to be controlled, as Light sits in half guard.
Light lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Light throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Light is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Light winds up and cracks Gerich with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Keith Light overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Light not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Light connects with a nice short shot to Gerich's temple.
Light takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Light wants to pass to mount but Gerich is defending the position.
Light wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gerich keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Gerich slaps away a takedown attempt from Light, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Light shoots in but Gerich avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Light fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Gerich avoids it really well and circles away.

Gerich has his feet on Light's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Light has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gerich.
Light takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Light is trying hard to land a takedown here. Gerich sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Light tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gerich sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Light somewhat.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Keith Light.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Light, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
