PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nigel Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stormy Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stormy Day told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nigel Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stormy Day!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Smith throws a leg kick but Day moved away.
Day tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Day on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Smith lands with a kick to the temple. Day shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Smith scoring well with a low kick there.
Smith feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Day's calf.
Day should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Day shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Day tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Smith is squirming around, avoiding Day's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Day sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Day cracks Smith with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Day is landing with some decent strikes but Smith is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Day cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position.
Day takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Day is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Smith can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Day fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Smith's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Smith takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Smith is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
