PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mav Brisk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Hearst Helmsley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Helmsley comes into a darkened arena with his song building. hhh kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Mav Brisk could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Hunter Hearst Helmsley's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mav Brisk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hunter Hearst Helmsley!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brisk moves in looking to clinch but Helmsley pushes him off.
Brisk connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Brisk lands a left and a right that send Helmsley crashing to the mat, dazed. Brisk thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Helmsley is rocked!


It looks like Hunter Hearst Helmsley has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brisk doesn't manage to clinch there - Helmsley circles away.
Helmsley is still on wobbly legs! Can Brisk finish him?

Helmsley seems to have recovered his senses.
Helmsley throws a leg kick but Brisk sees it coming and moves out of range.
Helmsley keeps the fight on the outside.
Brisk rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Helmsley moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Brisk tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Helmsley manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Brisk throws a right and a left that Helmsley avoids nicely.

Brisk tries to clinch up but Helmsley circles away and keeps his distance.
Helmsley lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Helmsley throws a sloppy head kick and Brisk moves out of range easily.
Helmsley looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Helmsley closes the distance but Brisk moves to the side
and Brisk counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Helmsley looks gassed!

Brisk fails with an attempt to clinch.
Brisk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Brisk lands with a shot to the body.
Helmsley circles away from the clinch attempt

and Helmsley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Helmsley postures up.
Brisk is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Helmsley is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Helmsley wants to pass the guard but Brisk is keeping the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Brisk moves in looking to clinch but Helmsley pushes him off.
Brisk wants to clinch up but Helmsley keeps it at a distance.
Helmsley misses with a body kick.

Brisk tries to clinch but Helmsley is having none of it.
Helmsley fails to land the takedown.
Brisk tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Brisk is looking to clinch.
Brisk is looking to clinch but Helmsley is avoiding it.
Mav Brisk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Helmsley tries to close the distance and clinch but Brisk swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A big right from Helmsley misses.
Helmsley dodges the punch combination from Brisk.
Brisk displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Helmsley.

Helmsley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brisk to the mat! Brisk manages to get full guard.

Brisk wants to stand and escape but Helmsley is having none of it.
Helmsley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brisk swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brisk controls Helmsley momentarily but Helmsley frees himself.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mav Brisk dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Hunter Hearst Helmsley's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Brisk ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Helmsley moves away.
Brisk tries to clinch up

and Helmsley counters with a takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brisk is trying to control Helmsley's posture but Helmsley avoids it.
Helmsley has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Brisk!

Let's hope that Helmsley has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Brisk is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hunter Hearst Helmsley was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Brisk tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Helmsley counters with a nice double leg into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Helmsley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Helmsley trying to control the position from guard on top but Brisk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Brisk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Helmsley on the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Helmsley stands up from Brisk's guard - Helmsley perhaps looking for a knockout.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Brisk wants to clinch but Helmsley slips to the side

and Helmsley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Helmsley sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Helmsley stands up and waves to Brisk to follow him.
Brisk misses with a double jab
and Helmsley counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Brisk thinking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Brisk throws a series of punches but Helmsley avoids them all with ease.
Helmsley shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brisk sprawls well. Brisk wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Helmsley gets slowly back to his feet.

Helmsley throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Brisk tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Helmsley is in Brisk's guard.
Helmsley thows a big elbow that misses.
Helmsley controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Helmsley loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Brisk will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Helmsley slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Helmsley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Helmsley stands and steps away. Brisk gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Helmsley counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Brisk's guard now.

Helmsley prevents Brisk from getting back to his feet.
Brisk is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Helmsley dives into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Helmsley stands up.
Helmsley moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.


It looks like Mav Brisk has been cut.
Brisk throws a head kick that Helmsley semi-blocks.
Brisk wants to clinch

and Helmsley counters with a single leg into guard. Brisk didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Helmsley slips nicely into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Helmsley with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Brisk is looking to escape.
Helmsley missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Brisk is looking for a sweep. Helmsley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hunter Hearst Helmsley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Helmsley has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
