PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between biff teegen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). teegen has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, biff teegen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Will West!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A combination from teegen does no damage.
West fails to land with a series of punches.
teegen scores with a jab. West acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
West tries to clinch up.
teegen throws a right hand that West ducks under and follows up with a left that West also avoids with ease.
teegen tries to keep at a distance but West has taken the fight into the clinch.
teegen is trying to maintain a safe position but West gets an underhook and turns teegen into the cage.
A short right hand to the side of the head by West.
West lands a shoulder strike.
teegen is breathing heavily.
West lands a hook to the side of the head.
West lands a damaging elbow.
teegen is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
West lands a left hand.
West lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
West scores with a shot to the side of teegen's head.

West gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, teegen regains guard.
West stands up and waves to teegen to follow him.
West scores with a decent looking hook.
That's one minute gone in the round.
West lands a big uppercut and teegen crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but teegen looks OK. West waves teegen back to his feet!
West closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - West lands in his opponent's guard.
West controls from within his opponent's guard.
West passes teegen's left leg - he's now in half guard.
West missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
West thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed teegen's head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
West works his way into full mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
West tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
West has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
West throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round.

teegen wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by West.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

West cracks teegen with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
teegen is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
West landing strikes from the mount and teegen is in trouble!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
West thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Will West dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
West tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
West moves into range and clinches up with teegen.
West breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
teegen misses with an uppercut.
teegen drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
biff teegen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
West drops teegen with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but teegen looks back up at him and smiles so West waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
teegen is rocked!
West is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
teegen looks up at the clock. Bad move! West lands a right hand from hell, dropping teegen. West pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Will West!
