Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Brent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Whitby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whitby has chosen You Suffer as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Brent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Paul Whitby!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brent uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Whitby fails in his attempt to clinch.
A jab from Brent does it's job there.
The fight stays on the outside here - Whitby looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Whitby tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
No luck for Whitby with that takedown attempt.
Brent lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Whitby has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Brent.

Whitby throws a lazy uppercut
and Brent counters with a one-two to the body.
Brent throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Brent is looking to slow Whitby down with leg kicks.

Brent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Brent sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Whitby's guard.
Whitby really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brent. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Whitby is looking to improve his position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Whitby can do anything to dispel that myth.

Brent seems to be working for a kimura but Whitby defends the submission attempt.

Brent is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Brent winds up and cracks Whitby with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Brent misses with a head shot. Whitby uses the momentum to regain guard.
Brent tries to free his leg and advance position but Whitby is retaining full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Brent looking to sit in guard and control but Whitby gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Brent is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Brent is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Whitby wants to control from the top but Brent keeps moving.

Whitby wants to pass the guard but Brent is keeping the position.
Brent can't keep his opponent in guard - Whitby advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Brent is not content to let Whitby control the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Brent gets full guard.
Whitby is pushing down on Brent's leg trying to pass to half guard. Brent is fighting to maintain full guard but Whitby has managed to sneak the leg through.
Whitby thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Whitby is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brent doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Whitby.
Whitby works his foot free and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Brent is looking to slow Whitby down with leg kicks.
Dave Brent seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Whitby wants to clinch.
Brent connects with a nice looking jab.
Brent connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Brent shoots in for a takedown but Whitby shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Brent moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Whitby avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Brent connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Whitby momentarily.

Brent looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Brent misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Whitby doesn't manage to clinch there - Brent circles away.
The crowd cheers as Brent lands an impressive looking overhand right. Whitby doesn't seem phased though.

Brent lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Brent lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Brent fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Whitby avoids it really well and circles away.
Whitby wants to clinch but Brent slips to the side
and Brent makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Brent throws a right and a left that both miss.

Brent shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Brent was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Whitby tries to hold on but Brent pushes him away.
BOOM! Brent connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Whitby is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Brent lands a nice shot to the head.
Brent pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Whitby is looking to improve his position but Brent isn't that keen on the idea.

Brent lands a big shot there that rocks Whitby but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Whitby manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
Whitby avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Brent.

Brent is working for a kimura but Whitby is defending it quite comfortably.
Whitby is looking to control Brent's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Whitby avoid being mounted?
Whitby is looking for a sweep. Brent is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brent is keen to just control but Whitby is a slippery customer.
Brent looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Brent not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Brent has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Whitby is trying to get back to full guard.
Whitby regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Brent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Brent tried to score with a low kick but Whitby checks it.
Brent connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Whitby uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Brent.

Brent cracks Whitby with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Brent throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Paul Whitby is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Whitby takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Whitby moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Whitby doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Whitby shoots in for a takedown but Brent shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dave Brent is winning the standup battle so far.
Brent bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Whitby on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Brent. Brent obviously looking to wear him down.
Brent dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Whitby. That did some damage!
Brent throws a leg kick which misses Whitby's front leg but catches the back leg as Whitby tries to avoid it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brent paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Whitby takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Brent lands with an uppercut that bounces Whitby off the cage and back into rage.
Brent throws a quick inside leg kick.

Brent is looking to slow Whitby down with leg kicks.
Brent connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
A nice leg kick lands there from Brent.
Brent scores with a jab to the head.

Brent drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Brent is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Whitby can do to turn this around?

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Brent goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Whitby has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Brent but great work by Whitby.

Whitby is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brent is just riding it out for now. Whitby eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are battling for position here. Brent manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brent stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Whitby swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brent throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Whitby works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Brent content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Brent loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Brent drops back looking for a leg! Whitby is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Whitby manages to kick Brent off! Brent jumps back into Whitby's guard.
Paul Whitby has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Brent accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dave Brent showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Brent has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
