Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mauricio Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Gilstrap!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gilstrap keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Gilstrap catches Silva with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Gilstrap with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Silva moves in looking to clinch but Gilstrap pushes him off.
Gilstrap changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Silva bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gilstrap circles away from the clinch attempt.
Silva wants to slow Gilstrap down by chopping away at his legs.
Silva tries to clinch but Gilstrap moves out of range.
Chris Gilstrap seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gilstrap tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gilstrap to the ground. Gilstrap escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gilstrap lands with a good body shot.
Silva takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Silva takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gilstrap ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Silva dives in and grabs Gilstrap's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gilstrap pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauricio Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Gilstrap.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Gilstrap saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Silva enables Gilstrap to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Silva manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Gilstrap loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gilstrap must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Silva working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gilstrap.
Gilstrap engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Gilstrap preventing the sweep.
Silva throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Gilstrap passes Silva's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Gilstrap looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Silva with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Gilstrap not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Silva looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Silva gets full guard.
Silva being controlled here, momentarily.
Gilstrap really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Silva lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gilstrap!
Gilstrap is in all sorts of trouble here.

Gilstrap is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Gilstrap is trying desperately to improve position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gilstrap can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Silva trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Gilstrap tries to hold on but Silva pushes him away.
Gilstrap keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Silva wants to control the pace but Gilstrap is squirming around nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gilstrap is looking to improve his position but Silva isn't that keen on the idea.
Silva looking to control but Gilstrap is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Silva has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gilstrap's face.
Silva tries to control but Gilstrap wriggling away.
Silva sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Gilstrap tries to improve his position but Silva has taken his back! Silva has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Gilstrap tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Silva pushes Gilstrap away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
