Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dan Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Chute Box Theme. Carlos Gracie has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dan Silva's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlos Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Gracie cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Silva rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Left hook, right uppercut from Silva.
Silva misses with an uppercut
and Gracie counters with a straight right hand.

Gracie closes the distance and pushes Silva back into the cage.
Gracie is trying to drag Silva to the mat but Silva just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Silva is looking to control Gracie's arms but Gracie gets an underhook and turns him. Now Silva has his back to the cage.
Gracie goes for a takedown attempt but Silva pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Silva throws a right and a left that Gracie avoids nicely.

Gracie scores a takedown into full mount!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gracie throwing strikes here but Silva is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Silva as he jumps to the side.
Silva throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Gracie counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Silva!
Gracie misses with some ground and pound and Silva recovers position to half guard.
Silva is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.
Gracie is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Silva keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie wants to take a breather but Silva is having none of it.

Gracie is looking for a kimura but Silva is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gracie is landing with some decent strikes but Silva is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Gracie postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Silva looks a forlorn figure.

Carlos Gracie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Silva turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Gracie off and cradles Silva's limp body as Gracie celebrates with his corner.
