PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between AJ Lumsden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Reabker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, AJ Lumsden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kevin Reabker!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paul Aken and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lumsden wants to clinch up but Reabker keeps it at a distance.
Lumsden shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Reabker is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lumsden's half guard.
Reabker missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Reabker thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lumsden's head.
Reabker throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lumsden is trying to get back to full guard.
Lumsden has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Reabker is working away from the top position though.

Lumsden wants to stand but Reabker is controlling the position.
Lumsden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Reabker drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lumsden manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Reabker has Lumsden in his guard.

Reabker pushes Lumsden off and scrambles back to his feet.

Lumsden feints and as Reabker raises his hands in defense, Lumsden changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lumsden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Reabker trying to control the position here.
Reabker looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lumsden is one step ahead there.
Lumsden with a nice head shot there.
Lumsden is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Reabker is looking to stand up but Lumsden isn't so interested in that idea.

Reabker tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lumsden won't allow Reabker to get back to his feet.
Lumsden postures up in Reabker's guard and throws a big left but Reabker blocks it.
Lumsden keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Reabker's head.
Lumsden thows a big elbow that misses.
Lumsden is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lumsden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Lumsden postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Lumsden won't allow Reabker to sweep him here.
Lumsden throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lumsden passes Reabker's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Reabker keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Lumsden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lumsden tries to stand and escape but Reabker is controlling the position.
Lumsden is breathing heavily.
Reabker wants to improve his position but Lumsden is controlling well.
Lumsden sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Reabker defending well though.

Reabker manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Reabker ducks under a wild hook from Lumsden.
Reabker missing with a left hand there. Lumsden was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Lumsden tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that AJ Lumsden will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Reabker gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Lumsden counters with a single leg into guard. Reabker didn't expect that.
Lumsden passes into half guard.
Reabker is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Reabker is trying to maintain the position but Lumsden is very close to passing his half guard.
AJ Lumsden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Reabker missing with punches from the bottom.
Lumsden is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Reabker is looking for a sweep. Lumsden is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lumsden passes into side control, despite Reabker's attempt to control the position.
Lumsden tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reabker can do anything to dispel that myth.
An elbow from Lumsden crashes against the mat.
Lumsden connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Reabker some visible discomfort.
Reabker is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Lumsden has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Reabker is breathing heavily.
Lumsden swats away the attempt to clinch by Reabker.
Reabker shoots in looking for a takedown but Lumsden manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reabker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lumsden doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Reabker counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Reabker.

Lumsden looking for a triangle here. Reabker is fighting it but it looks tight! Lumsden pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Reabker is tapping out - this one is all over!
