PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Buck Warshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keembo Sluce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warshaw kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Until It Sleeps. Buck Warshaw has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buck Warshaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Keembo Sluce!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warshaw misses with a jab, cross combination.
Warshaw circles away from the clinch attempt.

Sluce closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Warshaw to the mat! Warshaw manages to get full guard.
Sluce trying to control the position from guard on top but Warshaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Warshaw is looking to stand up but Sluce isn't so interested in that idea.

Sluce is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sluce stops Warshaw from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sluce stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Warshaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sluce with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Sluce tries to stand but Warshaw is controlling from the bottom.

Sluce gets to his feet - Warshaw follows without any prompting.
Sluce dodges the punch combination from Warshaw.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Warshaw enables Sluce to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Warshaw manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sluce wants to control from the top but Warshaw keeps moving.
Sluce postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Sluce is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Warshaw on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Warshaw tries to get out of the position.
Sluce trying to control but Warshaw is working from the bottom.

Sluce is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sluce drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Warshaw manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sluce has Warshaw in his guard.

Sluce looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Sluce wants to control the position but Warshaw says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Sluce moves into full guard.

Sluce manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Sluce is working for a guillotine from mount but Warshaw frees his head quite easily.

Sluce stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Sluce tries to clinch but Warshaw is having none of it.
Sluce takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Buck Warshaw is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A low kick from Warshaw is predictable there

and Sluce counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keembo Sluce dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sluce changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Warshaw tries to avoid it but Sluce manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Warshaw to the ground. Warshaw escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sluce fails with a takedown attempt.

Sluce drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Sluce is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Warshaw is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Warshaw has escaped and now he's on top!
Sluce is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Warshaw avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Sluce has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Warshaw can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Sluce throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Sluce lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Warshaw!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sluce is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Warshaw can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sluce scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Warshaw?

Sluce goes for an armbar but Warshaw turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Warshaw.
Sluce is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Warshaw knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sluce on the ground.
Warshaw wanted to stand there but Sluce had control of the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Warshaw got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sluce has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Warshaw has managed to get both his arms back between Sluce's legs - danger averted.
Sluce bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Warshaw's guard.
Keembo Sluce has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sluce thows a big elbow that misses.

Sluce drops back looking for a leg! Warshaw is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Warshaw manages to kick Sluce off! Sluce jumps back into Warshaw's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sluce drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Warshaw dives on top into guard.

Sluce working for a triangle but Warshaw defends it easily.

Sluce throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Warshaw escapes and throws Sluce's legs to the side, diving into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keembo Sluce showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Sluce closes the distance and clinches up with Warshaw, looking for a takedown. Sluce pushes Warshaw against the cage but Warshaw circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Sluce is countered with a crisp right hand from Warshaw that sends him to the canvas! Warshaw follows him to the mat into side control.


It looks like Keembo Sluce has been cut.
Sluce manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Sluce is looking for a kimura here.
Sluce passes the guard and advances to mount!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Warshaw is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Sluce fails to take his opponent's back.

Sluce looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Sluce stands up from mount. Strange move.
Nice takedown defense from Warshaw. No joy for Sluce on that attempt.
Buck Warshaw has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Keembo Sluce.
Sluce takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Warshaw shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Sluce eats them both and turns towards Warshaw to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Sluce fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A head kick by Warshaw - that's a beauty! Sluce is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Warshaw can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:07 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Buck Warshaw!
