PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Martin Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conan Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomes's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Juelz Santana - Murda Murda. Conan Jones told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones swings away with a body shot that misses
and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Jones looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Gomes slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Gomes throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jones tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gomes is in Jones's guard.
Jones seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Martin Gomes.
Gomes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gomes off to one side.

Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gomes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between Gomes's legs - danger averted.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gomes connects with a nice short shot to Jones's temple.

Gomes is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Jones has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Jones!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
