PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Krystian Kaczala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Sergei Dronov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaczala is looking to land body kicks.
Mir looks gassed!

Kaczala shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Kaczala seems content to control.

Mir should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Kaczala is looking for a kimura but Mir is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kaczala to get the leverage.

Kaczala decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mir tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kaczala has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Mir tries to control the position but Kaczala now has his back.
I would not like to be Mir right now.
Even with his hooks in, Kaczala manages to miss with strikes from the back.
What can Mir do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Kaczala closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Kaczala is taking a breather. Mir says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Mir tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kaczala presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mir tries to hold on but Kaczala pushes him away.
Kaczala takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Mir is looking to control Kaczala's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mir avoid being mounted?

Kaczala throws an elbow but Mir slips to the side and avoids it well.

Mir throws a sloppy head kick and Kaczala moves out of range easily.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kaczala, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
