The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shield tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Soni manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Shield tries to clinch but Soni is having none of it.
Soni avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Soni comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Soni circles away from the clinch attempt.
Soni connects with an inside leg kick.

Soni clinches with his opponent.
Soni blocking some punches.
Soni wants a takedown.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Shield.

It looks like Tanishk Soni has been cut.
Soni tries to land knees in the clinch but Shield avoids the damage to the body.

Soni breaks from the clinch.

and Soni counters with a nice leg kick.

Soni bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Shield wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Soni is staying tight to Shield's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Soni stands up.

Shield closes the distance looking to clinch
and Soni counters with a nice leg kick.
Soni shoots for a takedown but Shield saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Soni throws a quick inside leg kick.
Shield wants to clinch but Soni slips to the side
and Soni counters with a nice uppercut.

Soni is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Shield's half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Soni in particular looking to stall.

An inside leg kick lands from Soni.
Shield tries to clinch up
and Soni counters with a left and a right that stings Shield.
Shield has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Soni closes the distance and clinches.

Soni lands a takedown into guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shield wants to get back to his feet but Soni is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Shield is working an open guard so Soni takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Soni shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shield defends it nicely.
Soni changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shield darts in trying to clinch

and Soni counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Soni.
Soni trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Shield wants to hit a switch here but Soni passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Shield there!

Soni tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Shield is trying to reverse the position but instead Soni has taken his back - oops!

Tanishk Soni showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

and Soni counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
A nice leg kick lands there from Soni.

and Soni counters with a body kick.
Shield wants to clinch but Soni slips to the side
and Soni counters with a low kick, right behind Shield 's knee.

and Soni counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Shield's guard now.

Shield kicks Soni off and gets to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Soni's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Soni lands a really nice looking cross but Shield seems unphased.

Shield gets caught flat footed, as Soni shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Soni gets to his feet - Shield follows without any prompting.
Shield tries to clinch but fails miserably

so Soni counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Shield is looking to stand back up but Soni counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Shield.

Soni is looking to advance position but Shield won't allow it.

Soni stands up and beckons Shield to join him on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Soni lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Shield at a distance.
Shield closes the distance but Soni moves to the side
and Soni counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Tanishk Soni is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Soni lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Soni looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Shield!
Shield has given up his back here. Will Soni look for the submission or keep pounding away?

Well Soni has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
