Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Curtain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elder Joao Benedito Arsenio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benedito Arsenio has chosen Carmina Burana as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Elder Joao Benedito Arsenio!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Benedito Arsenio looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Curtain isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Benedito Arsenio stacks Curtain on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Benedito Arsenio!

Curtain manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Curtain working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Benedito Arsenio doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Benedito Arsenio manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Curtain is keen to just control but Benedito Arsenio is a slippery customer.

Curtain is looking for a kimura but Benedito Arsenio is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Curtain to get the leverage.

Donk. Curtain catches Benedito Arsenio right on the button with a cross.
Benedito Arsenio shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Curtain counters with a straight right hand.

Curtain closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Benedito Arsenio can't do much from the bottom here.
Benedito Arsenio tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Curtain wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Curtain is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Benedito Arsenio knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Curtain wants to finish this one by submission but Benedito Arsenio is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Curtain.
Curtain wants to take Benedito Arsenio's back here but Benedito Arsenio is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Curtain looking to control but Benedito Arsenio is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Curtain is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Benedito Arsenio can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Benedito Arsenio is looking to improve his position but Curtain isn't that keen on the idea.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Curtain takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Benedito Arsenio is trying to escape the mount.

Curtain is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Benedito Arsenio is surviving well by controlling Curtain's body position as best he can.

Curtain has control of Benedito Arsenio's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Benedito Arsenio regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Curtain working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Benedito Arsenio turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Curtain off and cradles Benedito Arsenio's limp body as Curtain celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Kevin Curtain!
