The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miquerilos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Rua manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Rua tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Miquerilos would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rua looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rua is on top in guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Rua has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Miquerilos uses from the top position.
Miquerilos tries to free his leg and advance position but Rua is retaining full guard.

Rua wriggles free and stands up.

Rua closes the distance and pushes Miquerilos back into the cage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rua takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Rua breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Rua working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Miquerilos is looking to get back to is feet but Rua passes into side control.

Rua thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rua in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Mauricio Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Rua shoots in for a double leg but Miquerilos sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Miquerilos slaps away a takedown attempt from Rua, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Rua shoots in and drives through. Miquerilos sprawls well.

Miquerilos throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rua was covering up waiting for the punch and Miquerilos finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rua throws his legs up looking for a submission but Miquerilos uses it to pass to side control.

Miquerilos is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rua is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Miquerilos wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rua, who protects the arm well.

Miquerilos tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rua can't do much from the bottom here.
Miquerilos tries to move to mount but Rua blocks the move with his legs.

Rua manages to work his way to half guard, despite Miquerilos's best efforts.

Rua takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
