PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Georges St Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Muise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Muise has chosen my time as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Muise closes the distance and pushes St Pierre back into the cage.
Muise has had enough of the clinch but St Pierre keeps him there for the moment.
Muise jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as St Pierre walks away with a smile on his face. Muise gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Muise leaves St Pierre with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

St Pierre drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
St Pierre prevents Muise from getting back to his feet.
Muise is pulling down on St Pierre's head to control his posture.
Muise is trying to keep St Pierre in close.

Kevin Muise has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Muise tries for a takedown but St Pierre circles away easily

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

St Pierre shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Muise is trying to defend but St Pierre finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

St Pierre rushes Muise and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
St Pierre keeps control of Muise as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Muise tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
St Pierre is pressed up against the cage. Muise has hold of a leg and is looking to drag St Pierre down to the mat. St Pierre avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Georges St Pierre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Muise.

St Pierre closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

St Pierre looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
St Pierre seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Muise clinches.
Muise is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. St Pierre is defending well for now.
Muise has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

St Pierre has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Muise regains guard immediately.
St Pierre wants to pass the guard but Muise is keeping the position.
St Pierre wants to control from the top but Muise keeps moving.

Muise escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. St Pierre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Muise is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
St Pierre's corner is telling him to maintain position.
St Pierre tries to free his leg and advance position but Muise is retaining full guard.
Georges St Pierre overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Muise is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
St Pierre passes into half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Muise won't allow St Pierre to pass to mount.
St Pierre is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Muise is trying to control but can't.
St Pierre works his way into full mount!

Muise working to try and regain half guard.
St Pierre takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Muise wants to hold on but St Pierre pushes him away.
St Pierre controlling from the full mount.
The referee warns Muise that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
St Pierre takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
St Pierre prevents Muise from getting the reversal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Kevin Muise has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Georges St Pierre is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for St Pierre, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
