PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donnie Yam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clessie Cummins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Clessie Cummins!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yam jabs Cummins right on the nose. Cummins blinks but takes it well.

Cummins scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Cummins postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Yam to stand up.
Yam misses with the combination.
Cummins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Donnie Yam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Cummins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Yam throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Yam pushes Cummins away with a front kick.
Yam fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Cummins on the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cummins doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Yam stuns Cummins with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Cummins shoots in looking for a takedown. Yam tries to sprawl out of it but Cummins keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Yam manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cummins looks gassed!
Left hook, right uppercut from Yam.
Cummins takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Cummins moves out of range of the body kick from Yam.

Cummins takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Yam throws a head kick that misses.
Yam moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Yam lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Cummins moves into the clinch.
Yam is trying to force a seperation but Cummins has the dominant position.

Cummins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Yam misses with the body kick

and Cummins counters with a single leg into guard. Yam didn't expect that.
Yam is looking to stand up but Cummins isn't so interested in that idea.
Yam knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cummins on the ground.
Cummins looking to sit in guard and control but Yam gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cummins has a closed guard, preventing Yam from standing up.
Cummins throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Cummins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yam is one step ahead there.

Cummins is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Cummins looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cummins looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Cummins pushes Yam off and scrambles back to his feet.
Yam misses with a lunging right hand

and Cummins counters with a nice double leg into side control. Yam won't be happy with that.
Cummins is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Yam will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Donnie Yam will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Cummins dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Yam. That did some damage!
Yam scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Cummins shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Cummins is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yam is trying to stand back up but Cummins is controlling him
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cummins stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Clessie Cummins has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Yam tries to sprawl but Cummins drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Cummins seems to be looking for submissions.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cummins throwing shots but Yam is blocking nicely.
Cummins works his foot free and advances to mount.
Cummins tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Clessie Cummins has got the better of the ground game so far.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Cummins wants to finish this one by submission but Yam is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Cummins.

Cummins lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clessie Cummins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Cummins feints and as Yam raises his hands in defense, Cummins changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Yam is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Cummins gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Cummins shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Cummins is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Cummins works his way into full mount!
Cummins sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Cummins with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Cummins throws some wild stikes that Yam manages to avoid easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Cummins jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Yam manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Cummins wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Yam, who protects the arm well.

Clessie Cummins comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Cummins has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
