The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oh closes the distance looking to clinch
and Kessler connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

It looks like Big Oh has been cut.
Oh darts in trying to clinch
and Kessler counters with a nice uppercut.
Oh shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kessler as he avoids it easily.

Oh tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kessler counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Oh has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kessler is working an open guard so Oh takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kessler misses with a low kick as Oh jumps back.

Oh is breathing heavily.

Oh changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kessler looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kessler is trying to buck Oh off.
Oh throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Oh creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kessler sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kessler is trying to get back to his feet.
Oh throws an elbow but Kessler slips to the side and avoids it well.
Kessler dodges the ground and pound from Oh.
Oh fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Kessler parries the strikes from Oh easily there. Oh is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kessler to escape.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kessler can do anything to dispel that myth.
Oh throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Oh cracks Kessler with a big right hand but Kessler just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Oh wants to clinch up but Kessler keeps it at a distance.

Oh tries to work over Kessler's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Oh swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Oh managing to block the knees to the body from Kessler.

Kessler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Big Oh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oh throws a lazy uppercut
and Kessler counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Oh tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kessler counters with a nice low kick that buckles Oh's knee momentarily.

Oh gets a takedown into half guard.
Kessler looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Oh is pressing down on Kessler's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kessler is holding on for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Oh is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Kessler wants to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Oh lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
