Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Howard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirt McGirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Howard might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to My Block. McGirk has chosen This Is Who I Am as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Howard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McGirk's guard.
Howard looking to sit in guard and control but McGirk gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McGirk would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Howard is pulling down on McGirk's head to control his posture.
McGirk must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Howard wants to sweep but no luck.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Howard walks into a stiff left hand from McGirk.

Howard closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Howard fails to land a wild elbow strike.
McGirk wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Howard tries to score with some ground and pound. McGirk controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Howard working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
McGirk takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Howard wants to control but McGirk is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Howard tries to advance position but instead McGirk slips a leg back in to half guard.

Well, if Howard is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

McGirk kicks off Howard and gets to his feet.
Dirt McGirk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Howard swats away the attempt to clinch by McGirk.
McGirk tries to clinch there but Howard circles away.
Howard shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McGirk sprawls well. McGirk wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Howard gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice shot lands for McGirk.

Howard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McGirk pinned against the cage. McGirk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
McGirk lands a jab to the head.
Howard is breathing heavily.
Howard fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Howard. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McGirk drops Howard with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Howard looks back up at him and smiles so McGirk waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Howard is rocked!
McGirk fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Oh Howard is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This has been an exciting period of action!
BAM! McGirk delivers a spinning backfist that drops Howard like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
